Medford to Sea Lion Caves

This morning we headed back towards Roseburg and up to Florence, OR to visit Sea Lion Caves.  Although Shawn wasn’t super excited about this  adventure, I really wanted to see them.  I was also hoping to see the orca whales.  In 2007 we saw the humpback whales in Hawaii and again the same year we saw them on our Alaskan cruise.

The ride along 138 was really pretty.  I am glad we rode that stretch again.  There was a bit of traffic on the road, but overall it was a really nice ride.  I should have some good Virb pictures to post later.

I loved Sea Lion Caves.  We saw the sea lions & also an orca whale & her calf!  Those were 2 of the things I really wanted to do on this trip.  It was a good day!

It was a really pretty day to be out riding.  We have finally had a few rain free days in a row & the nice weather has been great!  It is still a little cool, but it is comfortable for riding.  I originally thought we would spend some time combing the beaches & messing around in the water, but I haven’t felt like getting wet after being chilly off & on every day during the ride.  But – it isn’t raining on us anymore, so I am happy with the weather!

At Sea Lion Caves we visited with 3 people from the Vancouver area.  They are traveling our same road down to San Francisco.  They told us about a gondola ride through the redwood tress just south of the CA border.  We are going to do that tomorrow!  I am excited to see some of the huge trees.  They make me feel so small.  I love it!
