Today was another day of ‘easy’ riding. And still no rain! Yeah!!!
The ride today was really good. We stopped at Trees of Mystery and walked the trail through the giant redwood trees. We also took the gondola to the top. I loved it!!! We rode through Avenue of the Giants. What an amazing ride! These trees are spectacular! We have seen some great sites with the coast, mountains etc. but the Avenue might be my favorite so far.
Just before entering the Avenue, we stopped to get gas & eat at a local burger place. We met a couple other bikes at the gas station. One was from North Carolina & we may connect with him in July when he comes through KC. The other rider was from Eureka and stopped to chat with us about our ride. He was on a Ninja & just out for a day ride with a new rider on a Harley.
Crossing into California we stopped & took a couple of pictures at the state sign. Those are always fun to look back on later.
Tomorrow we are scheduled to get the tire put on Shawn’s bike. The Harley dealership in Eureka said to come in at 8:30am and they could put it on. The road surface here is really rocky & chunky. It is chewing up the tires. I will include a photo below of the surface we are on some of the time. Quite a few of the roads were like this in OR and WA too.
